SynergEyes Contact Lenses: This is a breakthrough product that combines the superior optics of rigid gas permeable lenses with the comfort of soft lenses. Drs. Belanger and Marra are among a select few trained in the fitting of these specialty lenses. They are especially good for comeal irregularity and bifocal prescriptions.
Bifocal
Contact Lens Upgrades Technology improvements have finally given us a repertoire of contact lenses that will work for about 90% of patients. Just five years ago the success rate was only about 50%. Dr. Marra and Dr. Belanger are up on the latest and greatest to tailor the fit for each motivated individual. Here are a few examples:
Triune
RGP:
This translating rigid lens design works like a spectacle lens with
distinct reading power at the bottom portion of the lens. It is considerably thinner and more precise than previous designs.
It works best on patients with astigmatism, high vision demands,
and patients who have worn RGP lenses previously. Dr. Belanger’s wife wears these lenses as well as some more
discerning patients.
Disposable Soft
Bifocal:
These were a true breakthrough product in terms of
low cost, initial comfort, and practicality of fitting from trial
set. For most patients we can demonstrate these soft lenses at the
same time as your initial eye exam and dispense the same day. For
some it requires some adaptation and small compromise of vision.
It works best for those who like disposable soft lenses. Sometimes
similar design deposit resistant soft lenses are best.
Triton:
This is a new soft contact lens released in summer
2001. It is significantly different than any other soft bifocal
lens. It gives improved vision relative to other aspheric soft
lenses while maintaining the comfort and flexibility of part time or
full time wear. Wave lenses: These could be the “wave of the future”. Our office is one of only a few in the country fitting this system. It requires a sophisticated instrument called a topographer which measures thousands of curvature variations of the cornea. With the aid of a computer, the database is e-mailed directly to the laboratory for custom fit to the individual wearer. Practically speaking, the advantages to the patient are improved comfort and vision relative to most rigid gas permeable lenses. The design can be modified on a virtual model of your eye by computer. Dr. Belanger and Dr. Marra have studied the system and refined skills through seminar training. |
