Dr. Belanger's humanitarian eyeglass missions to Nicaragua, Venezuela, Romania, and Bolivia.
Have you ever wondered what happens to used eyeglasses? VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) collects and processes them to deliver to needy third-world countries. We use a special auto-refractor to perform eye exams and match the prescription with frame to the person.
Dr. Belanger has been part of teams including doctors, optician, and others giving free eye exams and glasses to needy people in Third world comutries. Each year a VOSH team helps about 5000 patients with free spectacles. Typically about 800 people wait in line.for the opportunity for our services. The need for services and glasses due to poverty and lack of eye care was staggering! We thank everyone who donated glasses and supported out practice to allow this to be possible.
